How damn good are they?! Seven Deadly Sins on the 7 inch is fantastic, some great vocal harmonies there, like Radio America it kind of has that 'old song' feel, but I don't know how to explain it more than that... General Smuts is great and poppy and you can even hear all the words, I wrote them down on the back of an envelope and everything!! Bangkok, I like how they've slowed it down, it sounds great like that, Mr Finnegan a lovely little ditty and, well, Sally Brown just had me in hysterics and still does... hahahaa!! ;D Only the Libs, only the Libs... Your verdicts?

Im now convinced they could do any kind of music and make it sound good If anyone knows any of the lyrics send them to me so i can put them on the site for everyone

Sally Brown - I've just read the back cover, it says lead vocals by Rabbi John Connor, backing vocals by Alex McGraw, whoever they are... The Libertines wrote the song though. OK, I'll type out the General Smuts lyrics, I guess this doesn't help much though, as they're not that hard to figure out...
General Smuts
Well life is short We spend all our time Just fucking fighting my friend Well a soul can't be bought Not with a cheap rhyme And I know that when I die I'm gonna go down with the general Up with the general smuts
Well I've been stuck in a hole And it's dark down here Every time I've thought I've seen the light Well it just fades and disappears Just fades and disappears Just fades and disappears Just fades and disappears
I've seen a face in the shadows And I've said "how do you do?" And I've been living in this horror show Which just never ends I'm gonna go down with the general Back to the general smuts I'm going down with the general Up with the general smuts
Fades and disappears Fades and disappears I've seen a face in the shadows And I've said "how do you do?" And I've been living in this horror show For much too long I'm going down with the general Back to the general Down with the general Up with the general smuts
Sorry Wilko, I have no facilities for putting the Seven Deadly Sins on MP3 I'm afraid, someone else might have though...

Finally my copies of the single arrived this morning. I barely had time to finish getting dressed before leaving for work this morning though, so I've still not heard Seven Deadly Sins, but the others sound fantastic.
I love General Smuts, its ace, and Mr Finnegan is brilliant. Nice to hear a clearer version of Bangkok, and theres the essential craziness on Sally Brown... Love them all. I need to find a record player now... maybe I could go and 'test' a record player in a shop at lunch time.

Have you been record player shopping then? Bangkok is fantastic isn't it, I love how it's slower, although I guess it must have started out like that and they speeded it up to play it live and for the Xfm session. It's a great song though...

Bangkok is growing on me now, lyrics about sausages and alleyways etc, typical libertines.
Just noticed the grisly backing on general smuts aswell having listned to it through headphones

Have you been record player shopping then? Never had time... had to make a dash for a bus to get to Glasgow in time to view a flat. Shouldn't have bothered. Got stuck in traffic for 4 hours. 4 HOURS! Finally heard the 7" though... its superb. I love it.

Sally Brown - I've just read the back cover, it says lead vocals by Rabbi John Connor, backing vocals by Alex McGraw, whoever they are... Well, I can't speak for Alex McGraw but the rabbi works at Filthy's. He's a sweet man, if a little difficult to follow sometimes...
