I would recommend Time For Heroes or What Katie Did. They're both straightforward strummers.

nah theyve got bar chords in. Probably dont look back into the sun. maybe what a waster, the verse is quite easy anyway

For that matter, you should check out Johnny Cash's songs. Most are done with three open chords, and most are in that cool country blues form that is the backbone for a lot of cool music.
I started playing (without lessons) by listening to Johnny Cash. But if it weren't for cool guys and gals posting tabs, the whole process would be slower.

Pete recently covered a song called "We'll Meet Again", a 1940s classic which was also covered by Johnny Cash.
