absolutely not mate!, the £300 melody makers are real quality, i know for a fact that barat has used a red £300 melody maker in the past.

yeah he had that purple one didn't he? it looked awful and was modified i believe but i could be wrong about the modification....
they don't have a laquered finish for a start which not only makes the sound about as good as a 100 pound epiphone special but it also makes theneck horrible to play with. they have no bite and sound as dead as a dodo....and i can't begin to express how crap they look. when i say see someone in an indie band playing one the only thing that springs to mind is ....oh look another libertines fan with no money or taste in guitar music

yeah carl uses a gibson melody maker and he also uses a gibson les paul junior with a single p-90 pick up with a vintage burst. av jus got my hands on a marshall avt head does anyone no how to get a good carl barat tone?
