Does anyone else agree that quite a few of the songs on the album were better originally (eg Albion, Kilamangiro, Merry Go Round)? I like the album, I just think that the Babyshambles sessions versions of albion and Merry go round (that bowery song) were better, and the sailor sessions kilamangiro is too. anyone?

i agree completely. i think albion, merry go round, curtain call, killamanjiro and sticks and stones all sounded better originally. i also think that there were a few songs that were left out that shouldnt have been, like sheepskin tearaway and un bilo titled. it bugs me because i think its a really good album but it could have been amazing. Albion especially... the earlier versions send shivers up your spine but this simlpy doesnt

Ditto. And yes, Albion and Stix in particular were butchered.

Since UTB, only Can't Stand Me Now has been the only truly great song.
What I don't understand is, you can stick 'em all in a studio for Radio 1 and they'll play some awesome stuff - but in the studio and on live performances it falls flat.
Why not use the Fuck Forever similar to the Radio 1 session? It was awesome...I think the poor boy just needs Carl to gently tease great songs out of him - he certainly seems reckless without him. How can Peter let his songs become so detracted from their former selves?
It's as if the Libertines worked in a warehouse and carefully packaged these broken songs, as if thousands of pounds worth of fragile crystal. Then the studio engineers and Babyshambles come along, as delivery men and the package turns up smashed to smithereeens at your feet.
