its dreadful, i always knew barat was the genius of the libs and not pete, theres some great songs hidden behind a purposedly amateurish production, the guitarist is shit!

i got the album last night and have only listened to it one and a half times.
on the whole it's a good strong debut. not a good strong day debut in the way that razorlight and franz released easyily likable albums that had 10-15 3 and a half minute pop songs but a good solid debut in the way that we know it could be a lot worse.
the song writing is up to scratch but the actual editing of the trakcs by the band itself is a bit scruffy. they don't seem quite as concise as they could be but it's an album that's always going to be a bit rough around the edges.
i like a'rebours a lot. probably my favourite on the album so far. i think some of the songs are a bit too pieced together form various bits and bobs we've heard over the last few years and it would have been nice to have some of the songs changed or more surprisingly good new songs.
what katie did is brilliantly crafted though and "what did i dream" is brilliant.
a few more listens before i can really say much more

its rather hit and miss i have to say. Some of the songs seem barely pieced together cos the production is quite err 'shambolic' i spose,.That guitarist is fucking annoying, sounds like a shit grunge guitarist. But there are some good uns on there i tell thee.Pete doherty is still a quality songwriter,it quite dark in places but churpy in others.its an odd album,im going to have listen to a good few times over again.Definantly not a instant set of hits, very different and not what i was expecting, but a decent album.
I wont compare it to the libertines, thats a bit unfair i think.

i think the album is a corker
on a hole id say the shittest song is uck forever and my faves are 8 dead boys and stix and stones
up the morning is rather lovely
i think adam and drew make that album. its their tight playing that make it strongbles instead of shambles

Agree with Stu.... apart from the 'strongbles' thing, that just sounded gay.
