Anyone else hear the first play of 'Don't Look Back Into The Sun' on Lamacq Live last night? The final version is absolutely blinding, classic Libertines, raw, edgy, messy, catchy as hell, absolutely fantastic. Listen out for it on Zane Lowe's shows during the week (8-10pm, Radio 1) if you missed it... and it's out on August 18th, apparently, which suggests to me they're hopeful of not pulling out of Reading and Leeds (the following week) after all!

I didn't think it would be up online yet, but you can listen to the whole show again to hear it: click here - you can fast forward through the show, skipping five minutes... the Grandaddy live from Glastonbury stuff is worth a listen though... and The Libertines are on just before 10pm I think!

Thats great news, about the single and now im tempted to go to leeds as well. I saw an interview with carl on mtv2 the other day, followed by a bit of vertigo from rock am ring or im park or wherever it was. From what he said it looks like theres going to be a butler produced death on the stairs released, on the b-side im guessing. Vertigo with didz from the coopers was quality.

It's great isn't it?! I can hardly believe it's produced by Bernard Butler though, he's left it so much more edgy than he did with 'What A Waster', it's terrific! I hope so much for a version of 'Death On The Stairs' and a cover of The Smiths' 'Jeane' as the b-sides - I think that would make my year!
Yeah, I've heard they played well with Didz, I think someone else had seen that footage too or something, sounds great, it's a shame he couldn't play all the UK dates, with respect to Nick and all that...
Wow, cheers for that link - I didn't even know that site existed until a couple of days ago, when I completely forgot to check it out - there's a few Razorlight mp3's on there too, I've heard very good things about them - right, I'm off to check them out!

Aaah, it was bliss! Ta for the tip off Tim, I can't believe how amazing it sounds. They have to get back together now, you can't release a song as good as that and then have it all end. It's a shame that Pete said he fell out with Bernard, if the next album all sounded as good as this I'm sure it would be million times better than Up the Bracket.
They've got to play Reading and Leeds!!

No problem, glad to be of assistance! I must have great intuition / be incredibly fluky though, I hadn't listened to the radio in aaages - good old Steve Lamacq, still a million miles better than anyone else (apart from Mr Peel of course...)
You're absolutely right, it would be criminal if they didn't sort things out now after recording something this good. It gives you an air of optimism though I think, that things will work out, and I think the Reading and Leeds shows must be back on now - although they might still be without Pete, I think they'll definitely play!
According to teletext on Channel 4 yesterday, the b-sides for the single will be:
Death On The Stairs (re-recorded with Bernard Butler) Tell The King (demo) Skint and Minted (demo) Mocking Bird
So one completely unheard song anyway, and it'll be interesting to see what they've done with Death On The Stairs... shame there's no 'Jeane' cover though...

Your a wealth of knowledge this week!
i think skint and minted was mentioned in the NME when they were going through their "look how many libertines songs weve heared that you havent" phase, Ooh cant wait now.
Im optimistic on the reforming on the full lineup, for leeds reading, i dont know anything, its just a feeling. Ive not been on .org for a while though, so i dont know if petes posted anything recently, it just went really shit with people arguing about pointless stuff, nothing wrong with an argument, as long as its something worth arguing about.
I hardly listen to radio1 lately, might have start again.

I've just heard it. Wow I'm love again. Its fantastic. You can download it here www.libertines.co.nr/ Not the best quality in the world, but wow. I'm feeling very optimistic about things to come as well.... apparently when Peter was on XFM the other day he said he'd asked Carl to go along, but as Carl didn't think they were actually going on the radio he didn't go. Still.... he asked right? Thats got to be good.

I'm even surprising myself! Actually a friend who knows of my love for The Libs tipped me off about the stuff on teletext, so I'm grateful to her!! I would read the music news on Channel 4 more often, but unless I fiddle about for ages with the aerial I can't usually get a good enough signal.
Heh, yeah, it was, so it'll be interesting to hear how that one sounds - I really hated the NME when they were doing that and the album was so far away. They do more good than bad though, in the long run.
I've been on it a bit more lately for some reason, just to check if Pete HAD said anything I suppose - I think there's another secret gig thing tomorrow night or Thursday, but I haven't seen any posts from him other than that, he's not said anything about the band. It's actually relatively calm over there at the moment...
Holly - yeah, I'd say that was definitely a good sign. I think from what I've read on NME.com and heard on the Radio 1 interview, things are a lot more positive than people (myself included) have been assuming... I suppose when Carl didn't say anything and Pete kept making his posts, we feared the worst... I think things are looking up though!
And I know exactly what you mean about the single making you fall in love again. They just keep doing it to me too. Fantastic.

I can't be bothered with .org really anymore. It's so much work trying to filter out the rubbish. SO many messages every day now.
