No, the poor lad's obviously not very happy... I was quite upset when I read it, thinking of him feeling so lonely... you'd hope it was just another of their spats though, surely they fall out like this quite often?
Was it him or what he claims to be an imposter of him who said that Rough Trade didn't like their new songs? I forget now, that's got to be rubbish though...

Hmmm, not looking good again...  Peter writes: Oi nyou lot, I thought it was a sick joke when Banny said not to show up because the band would not welcome me. But having spoken to Carlos it is true - he does not want to play with me, in my current 'condition'. I'm not sure what he means but he's deadly serious and its settled. I'm getting a new line up together for the babyshambles tour of Albion forthcoming so all able bodied men and women step forward. I assure you I did my fucking damndest to get to Paris anyway, but can see now how badly they went out of their way to prevent me leaving the country ( stealing a mans passport out of his pocket whilst he slept)Can't let it get you down, heartbreaking as it was. The lights are all on, it is clear. There is no use moaning about it, it's the way it is. I'm getting on with things without any of them, though god knows I love him.. it's not happening anymore and its the way it is. Fuck 'em. And fuck all you who sit back typing self-preening running me down - Carlos asked me not to play, that he didn't want me, so that's that. (Separate post) Further to this.. I suppose replies will be forthcoming, so I will try and respond in advance to notions I have of your responses. First: I can see it from their point of view, I have proven unreliable and let people down. Gary, John and Carl have worked like martres and I just expect to show up when I choose. They have made a stand and I can't just swan up and plug in and scream it all out anymore. I don't want to be in that position anymore, I dont want to have all of 'em relying on my whims, and the thoughtlessness of my relatives dropping off one by one. second: I am not comfortable with the line up and over the months have repeatedly (if a little cowardly in my subtleness) tried to explain to Gary and John that I don't want to be in a band with them. My capriciousness deters them from taking me seriously but that is the way it is. My new songs are all I have, along with my liberty, and everything has to be just right from now on in. I need to start singing my new songs, and I want to play with other people. thirdly: the recent responses from Libertines fans have made me a little bored and aweary. I think a sensitive, more open minded crowd of ears awaits me and yes, I'll watch my back. |

no thats not good is it, looks like hes doing a tour himself though which would be good.
I was looking forward to a dont look back into the sun release soon as well, wonder if they got far enough with the recording to release it? thats one hell of a song and needs to be released this summer.
then after that we can only hope that they sort things out.

Well i just read the newest post pete made stating the fact he wont be joining the band for any gis as they dont seem to want him there which i think is slightly shocking. i was also upset to have read that peter didnt like being in the band with john and gary. im glad he is carrying on because he is a highly talented young man so

Jim, I dont go on the .org boards cos its full of groupies so I have kind of missed all this, just expecting it to blow over or be untrue.
I have a ticket for the Glasgow gig, do you know if they are playing it?

They should still be carrying on with the rest of the tour without pete as they have done for the other european dates, which is credit to the rest of the band.
I hope it blows over as well but it is true im afraid.
People on .org seem to be much in favour of pete going it alone, and most reckon pete is the libertines.
The fact that carl, john, gary are going round touring europe under the libertines name without him suggests otherwise. Id support petes solo tour and id love to see him do one of his infamous little gigs up here in the north, but at the end of the day i hope the band get back together, especially pete and carl, to sort this out. It would be a great shame if they split up so early.

i do think the way people r puttin it is rather unfair. For example i read a post someone made that without pete the libertines are nothing which i found kind ov sad. i think that everyone should be proud of john carl and gary for going ahead with it all and playing amazing shows!!
i am goin to the glasgow gig on sunday an ok it wont be the same without pete but i still think it shall be a good gig. an u kno the guys they will end up back together soon enough.

yeh thats how i feel.
i suppose its a bit of a cheat them still playing on, but its better than nothing.
i couldnt get a ticket for king tuts the last time so i am going even if they make up the rest of the band with status quo.

Im not sure whether to be mad at pete or carlos at the minute. On one hand pete obviously couldent care two shits for the people who've shelled out good money on the premise that the libertines (including him) would be playing, on the other hand its perhaps down to carlos' attitude that is causing pete to not want to play, ahhh well i dont know! I suppose theres always the subsequent piss up down 42s to look forward to
