Epiphones are quality guitars at a good price. They sound good and look good. But the only problem you should be aware of is that the switch has a habit of not working I have two epiphones and the switch has gone on both of them - has anyone else had this problem or is it just me?

Iyou looking at a Semi-Acoustic then Epiphone Sheraton or Dot are good choices I think.
But if you are looking for a solid body why not try a Fender Telecaster. You can get Mexican made ones for a little over 300 quid, and guitars dont come much older than that design!

i was just like you a week ago or so. I posted a message called 'help...', so maybe you wanna check it out.
As a result of that post, i´ve just got an Epiphone Dot for my birthday last monday. It sounds great, and if you like the Libs, I think the sound of this axe fits very well to their songs. It´s my first electric and i just can´t keep playing it aaaall the time. ;D
Cheers, Pablo.

I have two epiphones and the switch has gone on both of them - has anyone else had this problem or is it just me? my epiphone les paul done that but try putting some wd40 or something into the switch, tis what the guy in the guitar shop i took it too done and its worked fine, said sometimes dust and junk can clog up in there a bit! i have an epiphone les paul, like james dean bradfields from the manic street preachers, i got the manics to sign it too! i have another epiphone, aint sure of its name, tis like chuck berrys red 'un, pete has one like it too! plus i got a squeir strat and yamaha sg 1000s for twenty quid each, caus my mums mate found them in his attic years after he gave up. i hate strats to be honest, but the sg is 'mazin!

You can pick up a Sheraton for about £350 and an ES-335 Dot for a bit less than that, if you look hard enough.
Personally I like both, but if I buy another guitar my girlfriend will probably shove it up my arse on the way out the door!

You can get proper switch cleaning solvents (apparently, I play acoustic, so I don't really care about 'switches')
